November 4 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

This event is presented by the Indigenous Education Council and School of Journalism from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., on Tuesday, November 4th. Gabrielle McMann, a recent TMU School of Journalism graduate, will share her experiences as a young Indigenous woman navigating colonial systems that don’t reflect traditional Indigenous values. She will share her advocacy for better coverage of Indigenous stories and offer knowledge for those who work with or engage in media to develop better practices and account for past mistakes. Her presentation will end with a Q & A.

McMann is mixed Ojibwe from the Mississauga of the Credit First Nation. During her time at TMU, she was the first Digital Editor for the Reconciling Journalism website. McMann focuses her work covering Indigenous art, culture, history, and events.
