At this event on Wednesday, November 6th, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., the Ontario Native Women’s Association will be coming to TMU’s campus for a powerful talk about Indigenous Anti-human trafficking, which you can either attend in-person or online.
The presentation will be followed by a pipe ceremony and, to commemorate, a feast catered by the Pow Wow Cafe, which will be held in-person only from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. To conclude, there will be a Memorial Round Dance, a traditional Indigenous ceremony to honour and remember those who have passed. The dance will take place from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and will also serve as a remembrance to those impacted by residential schools, overdose, suicide, and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. It will be a celebration of life through drumming, singing, dancing, and a circle of healing. Attendees are invited to bring a photo of a loved one to be included in the memorial song. You can learn more about the Memorial Round Dance here.
